About The Position

To assist the manager in serving and preparing high quality, nutritious, appealing food in a clean and pleasant environment by food service professionals who care about the health and welfare of children.

Requirements

High school diploma
One year of experience in cafeteria or restaurant management, or in bookkeeping desired
Computer and basic mathematical skills required
Able to stand and walk most of the day, reach, bend, and safely move items
Managerial qualities required
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities

Perform managerial duties in the absence of the manager
Perform any job in the kitchen that needs to be done. Fill in where needed
Assist manager in carrying out the standards of state and federal regulations, and policies of the school board
Keep records of participation and receipts for the manager
Make consistent and firm decisions
Maintain high degree of accuracy in mathematics and job responsibilities
Assist in preparing meals for students
Continue reading and training as needed to work in school food service
Know how all equipment is operated, cleaned, and serviced; trains and schedules operators in use and care
Know Food Safety Plan and HAACP standards and insures procedures are followed
Create and maintain a spirit of teamwork among food service staff
Maintain a cooperative relationship with school faculty and service staff
Endeavor to increase participation in the School Meals Program
Operate serving line and check out in a prompt, courteous, and efficient manner
Use a computer to maintain financial records and to communicate
Answer the telephone in a professional manner
Perform any task in the kitchen when it is necessary
Supervisor may assign other duties as needed
