About The Position

As our School/Campus Facility Specialist, you will be the driving force behind this mission, ensuring that our building is clean, safe, and fully operational. This is a hands-on role where you are directly responsible for the daily upkeep of the campus—balancing the oversight of contracted vendors with the direct execution of maintenance tasks, lunchroom setups, and emergency responses. Whether you are managing work orders or personally responding to an urgent spill, your work ensures that all inspections and project milestones are achieved to maintain a high-quality facility.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in school facilities or equivalent work in building maintenance and groundskeeping.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • General carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical knowledge (swapping outlets and lighting ballasts).
  • Comfortable using power tools, HVAC/BMS systems, and building safety equipment.
  • Effective communication via phone, email, and in-person; ability to use computers and mobile job-tracking systems.
  • Ability to lift, bend, and pull more than 50 pounds.
  • Must be available 24/7 to handle school-related emergencies.

  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Experience in construction practices and site safety.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily cleaning for all interior and exterior spaces via contracted providers.
  • Directly respond to student accidents, spills, and urgent cleaning needs.
  • Perform daily inspections of buildings and grounds to identify and fix issues.
  • Handle lunchroom set-up and clean-up for daily periods and special events.
  • Use the work order system (School Dude) to track and update maintenance tasks within 24 hours.
  • Ensure 100% of buildings are safe and meet all state and local compliance deadlines.
  • Schedule and execute yearly inspections for fire alarms, extinguishers, and mechanical systems.
  • Act as the first point of contact for building alarms and security camera reviews.
  • Maintain the building’s Life Safety systems and required permits.
  • Manage facility-related vendors and monitor the quality of evening cleaning crews daily.
  • Coordinate deliveries of school supplies and equipment.
  • Create schedules for small projects like painting, electrical outlet installation, and boiler repairs.
  • Review vendor quotes and ensure facility invoices are paid on time (Net 30).
