About The Position

The School Director will provide strong instructional and operational leadership across two campus locations, fostering a cohesive school community focused on academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and postsecondary readiness for students with complex learning profiles. The Victor School is a Massachusetts Approved Private Special Education Day School Program serving students in grades 6-12 across campuses in Acton and Sudbury, MA. Our students have diverse learning profiles, strong academic potential, and postsecondary goals that are supported through a rigorous, highly supportive educational environment. Fully approved by DESE, The Victor School partners closely with students, families, districts, and clinical providers to deliver challenging college-preparatory academics within a safe, therapeutic school setting. The School Director will oversee educational quality, campus cohesion, and student success across both locations while leading large multidisciplinary teams in an 11-month school program.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Master’s degree preferred in education, special education, educational leadership, school psychology, social work, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • At least three years of leadership experience in a therapeutic or special education school setting, with demonstrated success in supervising large school teams.
  • Massachusetts licensure as a Special Education Administrator strongly preferred.
  • Principal/Assistant Principal licensure with significant special education and instructional leadership experience will also be considered.
  • Valid driver’s license required, as transportation of students may be necessary.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic school environment for all students.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for two campus locations, ensuring consistency in educational programming, school culture, and student experience.
  • Lead large multidisciplinary school teams with a focus on instructional excellence, collaboration, accountability, and responsive problem-solving.
  • Promote a shared vision for high-quality teaching, learning, and college readiness for students with social-emotional and learning needs.
  • Oversee rigorous special education programming that aligns with student IEPs, supports strong academic outcomes, and prepares students for college and future success.
  • Ensure classrooms across both campuses provide structured, engaging, and therapeutic learning environments that support student growth.
  • Monitor curriculum implementation, instructional practices, student progress, and school-wide outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure both campuses operate in compliance with DESE regulations, licensing standards, and contractual obligations while supporting high-quality educational programming.
  • Maintain strong oversight of student records, documentation systems, and compliance processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Uphold organizational policies and school-based procedures that promote safety, accountability, and alignment across both campuses.
  • Supervise and develop educational leaders and staff across both campuses, including coaching, performance feedback, goal setting, and professional growth.
  • Build a strong staff culture grounded in collaboration, high expectations, and shared responsibility for student achievement and well-being.
  • Support recruitment, staffing, and retention strategies that sustain strong instructional and clinical teams.
  • Foster safe, inclusive, and academically focused school communities where students feel known, supported, and challenged.
  • Ensure effective systems of behavioral, social-emotional, and academic support that promote engagement, attendance, and positive student outcomes.
  • Partner with families, districts, and internal teams to support student progress, transitions, and individualized planning.
  • Maintain high expectations for supervision, safety, and consistency across classrooms, transportation, and community-based activities.
  • Oversee daily operations across both campuses to ensure organized, student-centered, and mission-aligned programming.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of educational and related services in alignment with IEPs, DESE requirements, and program goals.
  • Support admissions, referral, transition, and discharge processes to maintain continuity of care and strong school-district partnerships.
  • Monitor enrollment, staffing patterns, and program capacity to meet student needs and sustain high-quality programming across both locations.
