As the School Counselor, you will be responsible for providing individuals with social, emotional and behavioral counseling in a school setting. The School Counselor will assist students in all grades at the South Mountain campus. You will also provide a range of psychological services including class, group, and individual counseling, collaborate with teachers and parents on early identification and intervention of student's academic and social/emotional needs, and assist students in removing barriers to learning and developing skills and behaviors critical for academic achievement. You will assess students' abilities, interest, and achievements to help them make decisions about their future, provide professional assistance and support to a student or small group of students during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change or other situations impeding student success, and recognize and respond to student mental health needs and assist students and families seeking resources. You will share strategies supporting student achievement with parents, teachers, other educators and community organizations, collaborate with educators, parents and the community to support student achievement, and provide support to students and families needing school or community resources for additional assistance and information. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of social-behavioral elements of the IEP process, and when applicable, participate in Leadership team meetings to provide updates about important relevant topics/issues. You will also assist in crisis intervention, e.g., suicide assessment, threat to other assessments, and participate on the crisis response team. Other duties as assigned.
