School Counselor Long Term Substitute - Kate Furbish Elementary School (Anticipated)
About The Position
Kate Furbish Elementary School is seeking a long-term substitute school counselor to support students in kindergarten through grade two and staff. The school is a large, nature-based, and nurturing learning community serving PreK-Grade 2 students in Brunswick, Maine. They are committed to fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning, with staff passionate about early childhood development and creating an inclusive and joyful classroom experience. The school implements the Maine Department of Education’s For ME program, emphasizing whole-child growth and intentional play. This position will begin in late August 2026 and conclude on December 22, 2026.
Requirements
- Experience supporting social-emotional needs of young children.
- Ability to respond collaboratively and flexibly to changing student and school needs.
- Ability to use a collaborative approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to regularly supervise students in the school environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Social Emotional Learning Team on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
- Support kindergarten to grade two students and staff as part of the SEL team.
- Support social-emotional needs of young children.

- Perform other related tasks and assume other duties as the Principal may assign from time to time.
