Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 21 years of age.
  • No criminal and driving violations.
  • Maine Class B Motor Vehicle Operator's License with passenger and school bus endorsement.
  • Knowledge of Maine Motor Vehicle laws.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations pertaining to school buses and drivers.
  • Ability to maintain order and discipline on the bus.
  • Ability to communicate and work in a positive manner with staff and pupils.
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance and adjustments to bus.
  • Ability to lift independently objects weighing up to 70 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operating a school bus to transport students to and from school and school-related activities.
  • Enforcing bus rules to maintain student discipline.
  • Reporting any violations or incidents.
  • Conducting pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Scheduling and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Keeping the bus clean.
  • Completing required reports.
  • Ensuring students are picked up and dropped off at authorized stops in compliance with school policies and safety regulations.
