School Bus Driver - Markham

About The Position

Voyago is hiring School Bus Drivers in Markham and surrounding areas for the 2026/2027 school year. This role involves safely transporting students to and from school, prioritizing their safety, and maintaining the bus. We are seeking both Part-Time Drivers for assigned routes and Route Support Drivers to assist with temporary vacancies and future route opportunities. This is a unionized position.

Requirements

  • Safety focused
  • Valid minimum full G class driver's license for at least 1 year
  • 21 years of age or over
  • Safe driver with a clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain a clean criminal record search with vulnerable sector screening
  • Sound knowledge of Markham and surrounding areas
  • Ability to work independently
  • Available for the required shifts: Monday to Friday approximately 6:00 am to 9:00 am AND 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (Start and end times will vary depending on the specific details of each route)
  • Solid communication skills
  • Enjoy being around children of all ages
  • Comfortable driving in all types of weather and road conditions
  • Comfortable driving large vehicles
  • Basic computer skills and ability to easily navigate Google Maps or a GPS unit

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport students within your community to and from school, ensuring a reliable and positive experience each day
  • Prioritize student safety at all times, including during boarding, transit, and exiting the vehicle
  • Conduct thorough pre and post trip inspections to ensure the bus remains in proper and safe operating condition
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the bus, including assisting with fueling and basic upkeep to present a well kept, professional vehicle
  • Accurately complete daily Hours of Service reports and maintain required documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Immediately report any mechanical issues or concerns affecting the safe operation of the vehicle
  • Address and report any student behaviour issues in a timely and professional manner, following company procedures
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with safety practices, policies, and regulations
  • Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and care while fostering a safe and respectful environment for all passengers
