About The Position

The School Bus Driver Instructor is a full-time, permanent position within the Transportation Department. This role is responsible for instructing school bus drivers and ensuring they meet all certification and safety requirements. The position operates on a 12-month calendar, 260 days per year, from July 1 to June 30, with a standard 8-hour workday, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Requirements

• Valid California Class A or Class B Commercial driver's license with Passenger and School Bus endorsement and air-brake certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire or before driving equipment/vehicle requiring this license).
• Valid California School Bus Driver Special Certificate.
• Valid California School Bus Driver Instructor Certificate.
• Valid medical certificate approved by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Valid First-Aid Certification as required by California Highway Patrol and California Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain, Red Cross First-Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instruction Certification within 30 days of employment.
• Applications submitted without the required documentation attached will not be considered.

Responsibilities

• Ensure drivers possess valid First-Aid Certification as required by California Highway Patrol and California Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Oversee the acquisition of Red Cross First-Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instruction Certification within 30 days of employment.
