School Bus Aide
About The Position

If so, the Department of Public Transportation's School Bus Aide position may be the right career for you! The School Bus Aide is a full-time position with benefits and a preferred hiring rate of $17.92 per hour. The ideal candidate for this position will be available when Harrisonburg City Public Schools are in session to help ensure that local students arrive at school, field trips, and athletics events in a safe manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Some experience in working with children, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

- Available when Harrisonburg City Public Schools are in session
Responsibilities
- Assist the school bus driver in maintaining discipline
- Assist students boarding and leaving the school bus
- Assist students with special transportation needs, such as wheelchairs, braces, crutches, and more
- Assist with the security of students on the bus while observing the special needs of passengers
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining the inside of the school bus
