As a School-Based Therapist, you will serve as the primary therapist and clinical case manager for each child/family on your caseload. You will provide guidance in the mental health domain as a member of each student’s interdisciplinary team, lead weekly group therapy for classroom students, and consult with the school Clinical Manager on clinical treatment plans and in the event of crisis situations. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive family and child developmental history & assessment during the intake process, compiling information, formulating, and reporting specific recommendations for follow-up mental health services when a child and family transition from EBC, and overseeing the prudent continuation and transition of necessary mental health services when students transition or mainstream into a less restrictive educational setting. You will develop, monitor, and document each student’s therapeutic IEP goals in consultation with the team and the school clinical manager. You will complete initial intake evaluation/assessment, outcome evaluation forms, and clinical progress notes and reports in a timely manner regarding therapeutic services delivered. You will conduct primary liaison/communication with community-based mental health-related agencies, service systems, providers, and family support organizations that are or have been recommended to be part of the child’s/family’s mental health intervention plan. You will plan and co-lead evening parent workshops, support groups, and podcasts on relevant topics as requested by your supervisor. You will attend weekly therapist and staff meetings as well as classroom team meetings as necessary, keeping the classroom team appraised of pertinent information regarding individual and family therapies within professional limits of confidentiality and appropriateness. You will attend each child’s IEP meetings, parent/team conferences and present therapeutic IEP goals as well as review students’ progress on these goals. You will review the child's mental health status and present the mental health component of the intervention plan. You will conduct specialized theme groups as needed and as directed by the school clinical manager (examples might include: transition group, parent education/support group, divorce/family change group, adoption group, etc). You will schedule and attend regular weekly individualized supervisory meetings with the school Clinical Manager, and attend occasional community/professional meetings as an official representative of EBC School and Children’s Health Council. You will review the clinical handbook and complete the orientation checklist within thirty (30) days of hire and complete all required training. You will perform other related duties as required and assigned. Punctuality, attendance, and organization are essential. You will ensure that school policies and procedures are carried out, adhere to the CHC Employee Handbook, ensure the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Law is adhered to, and protect the confidentiality of client/student and families. You will maintain a commitment to child safety, mandated reporting duty, and professional boundaries.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in a mental health field (MSW, MFT, or APCC)
  • Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)
  • Minimum of one year post-graduate experience providing therapy to children and families
  • Strong basic knowledge of individual, group, and family therapy modalities in youth and family work.
  • Knowledge of youth and family service systems (county mental health, social services/child protection, juvenile corrections).
  • Knowledge of and/or classroom teaching experience with children who have serious emotional disturbances and learning disabilities.
  • Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team and to provide guidance/supervision to interns
  • Experience working with diverse populations and commitment to CHC’s DEIB initiatives
  • Knowledge of electronic health record keeping and comfort with Zoom software

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a 15-hour BBS-approved Clinical Supervision Training
  • Active California clinical license (LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC)
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to associates or trainees
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a school setting

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $80,000 to $95,000 per year
