About The Position

Pawnee Mental Health is a non-profit Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) serving underserved populations in 10 counties in North-Central Kansas. They are seeking a passionate individual to join their team as a School-Based Therapist. This role offers the opportunity to earn up to $9,000 annually in bonus pay based on client care expectations and group facilitation. Compensation is determined by licensure and scope of practice, with higher starting pay for fully licensed clinical therapists who have independent practice authority and expanded clinical responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, Social Work or related field.
  • Current, active, unencumbered license as an LPC, LMFT, LMLP, or LMSW (a temporary license will be considered eligible).
  • Experience providing therapy services to children under 17.
  • Strong ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a clinical team while also able to be self-directed and motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment in routine, urgent, and emergent clinical situations.
  • Ability to acquire and effectively practice new clinical skills as needed according to evolving agency needs/services.
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • All employees will be required to submit to and pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Independent clinical license (LCPC, LCMFT, LP, LSCSW).
  • 1 year experience providing therapy in the school setting.
  • Familiarity with school community including MTSS framework and special education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health care in schools, community, and office-based locations.
  • Travel from home office to assigned local school-based office.
  • Provide psycho-educational services to the school community as assigned.
  • Serve as the expert clinical voice in school meetings, including trauma-responsive support plans, IEP meetings, and SIT meetings for assigned schools.
  • Provide diagnostic intakes and SED waiver assessment services to K-12 youth using clinical training and the latest version of the DSM.
  • Deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy services to individuals, families, and groups in the school setting.
  • Complete agency trainings, including certification in evidenced-based treatment models.
  • Collaborate with the school community, treatment team members, and natural supports to ensure a wrap-around approach for continuity of care.
  • Create and maintain person-centered treatment plans based on clients’ unique needs.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to all cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Provide clinical supervision toward independent licensing to staff as qualified and assigned.
  • Monitor client progress through ongoing assessment.
  • Meet administrative and clinical documentation requirements in terms of content and timeliness.
  • Meet direct service expectations and comply with established productivity standards.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge and skills related to trauma-informed school-based care through continuing education per state licensure requirements.
  • Perform all other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management personnel.
