About The Position

The School Based Security Officer Supervisor is responsible for providing a safe and secure campus environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is a 10-month (200 days) contract position with a salary schedule and benefits package. The role involves supervising security personnel, developing safety plans, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the overall security of school facilities.

Requirements

  • Must be over 21 years of age.
  • No misdemeanor arrests or convictions in last six (6) years.
  • No felony arrests or convictions.
  • Experience as a Security or Police Officer.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license – no conviction for careless or reckless driving, or DWI in last five (5) years.
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass a drug test if requested.
  • Demonstrates the conviction that all children can and will learn in the Little Rock School District.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to write reports in a concise and accurate manner.

  • Must pass a physical agility test.

Responsibilities

  • Informs, aids, and advises the Director of Safety and Security and the School Principal.
  • Assists in developing safety and security plans for assigned school buildings.
  • Trains and supervises school and district security officers.
  • Keeps accurate records of incidents investigated by security officers.
  • Monitors gang activities in the school.
  • Learns to operate all assigned equipment (scanner, TV/VCR, radio, etc.).
  • Acts as liaison with SRO’s.
  • Provides supervision for football games, basketball games, and other after school activities.
  • Recommends crime prevention programs for school.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Maintains flexible hours in order to provide supervision when needed after regular school hours.
  • Makes sure that all doors and windows are locked, prior to leaving the building.
  • Only open doors necessary.
  • Audits all electronic equipment that is leaving the school.
  • Checks, on a weekly basis all Sonitrol equipment to make sure it is in working order.
  • Inventories and makes sure security equipment needed for the school year has been ordered and all security equipment is in working order.
  • On a daily basis, checks the night lights to make sure they are in working order.
  • Be available to direct individuals to the proper area of the school and opens and locks doors when used.
  • Maintains an “in and out” book of individuals gaining access to the school.
  • Monitors all material leaving the school.
  • Be available to assist other schools or facilities in the district in the event of an emergency.
  • Be available to work various hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Safety and Security or the school principal.
