About The Position

As our School Based Mental Health Specialist (SBMHS) at Clinica Family Health and Wellness (CFHW) you would be part of a state initiative of the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) to act as a school-based mental health specialist in a local school district, along with other Mental Health Specialists across the state. You will provide data-informed consultation and collaboration, education, and training to the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) to enhance mental health support for students, school staff and families. You will have a strong focus on universal prevention strategies, systems, and procedural enhancements, as well as targeted collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You will assist with the implementation of social emotional learning (SEL) programming in schools, provide mental health, wellness and suicide prevention education, training and workshops for students, staff, and families, and provide mental health needs assessment, resource mapping, referral pathways, and linkage to mental health services as requested. You will provide resource information, training, and education to support youth mental health and resiliency building in partnership with our Child and Family Services team. You will represent CFHW at inter agency meetings that support BVSD students, such as truancy review meetings, and assist in providing recommendations for mental health treatment and linking students to services. You will report to the CFHW School Based Services Program Supervisor and will work from a variety of locations including on-site within the BVSD schools and the district office. You will work with the CFHW Program Supervisor and school staff, including those in Student Support Services, with support from the Behavioral Health Administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or a related field
  • One (1+) years’ experience working within a school system and knowledge of or training in Evidence-based and Trauma Informed programs such as Sources of Strength, Youth Mental Health First Aide, Question Persuade Refer (QPR), Resiliency in Schools and Educators (RISE), or Restorative Justice Practices
  • One (1+) years’ experience with program implementation, research and data collection
  • One (1+) years’ experience collaborating with schools and school district personal and community partners
