This is a 10-month permanent position, with salary averaged over 12 months. The working days follow an Academic Calendar (mid-August to mid-June). The School Based Mental Health (SBMH) Program is a partnership between Polk County and 5 local school districts, with staff placed in schools throughout rural Polk County. The program aims to address barriers to student success without any billing. The School Based Mental Health Associate provides short-term, evidence-based services including individual and group skill-building, social emotional learning facilitation, and crisis response support (suicide assessments). Staff consult with families and school personnel to connect students and families with community resources. There are opportunities to develop skills in areas such as classroom presentations, PBIS support, parent education, suicide prevention, and social skill development.
