About The Position

Under direction, provides individual, family and group therapy to students enrolled at Phoenix Rising Alternative High School using evidence-based practices by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • Skill in: Counseling individuals and families
  • Using a personal computer, Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of: Child development, trauma and delinquency
  • The use of various evidence based/best practice therapeutic modalities
  • Principles and practices of social work and psychology applicable to juvenile casework
  • County and state regulations regarding youth offenders, including Title 10 of the Oklahoma State Statues
  • Ability to: Learn and incorporate new practices as deemed necessary by the program facilitator
  • Work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
  • Work under stressful conditions and to work with persons in conflict
  • Handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Establish effective interpersonal relationships and create a constructive atmosphere of crisis problem solving
  • Work with culturally diverse families and communities and to be culturally sensitive and appropriate
  • Speak effectively and present information and respond to inquiries from groups of administrators, teachers, clients, and the general public
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete or abstract variables in standardized situations
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work or Human Relations; and 3 years full-time paid employment in family focused counseling.
  • Valid OK Driver’s License possessed for at least 6 months
  • Defensive driving with Tulsa County within 6 months of hired
  • Possession of a professional license or eligibility for supervised licensure (LPC, LMSW, LMSW-US, LCSW) as approved by the relevant state governing board.

  • Documents verifying supervision status for professional license

Responsibilities

  • Conducts intake assessments with all new students following admission to Phoenix Rising Alternative School.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with the involvement and consent of the students and their support system, making referrals to community partners when appropriate.
  • Plan and facilitate group interventions based on trends in student population.
  • Participate in staffing cases with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide information and consultation to school staff regarding best practices in working with justice involved youth.
  • Respond to calls from clients and/or families for crisis solutions.
  • Provide support to members of the student's immediate family throughout the change process.
  • Complete documentation regarding student progress/regress including documentation regarding each family/student contact.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
