About The Position

This role focuses on providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address the emotional, behavioral, social, and mental health needs of students, ultimately aiming to improve their success in school. The clinician will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, provide crisis intervention, support student transitions, and collaborate with various stakeholders including families, community agencies, and school staff. A key aspect of the role involves promoting preventative mental health initiatives and supporting staff well-being.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related mental health field.
  • Current Texas licensure (LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, LPC, or LSSP) required.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based mental health practices and interventions.
  • Knowledge of MTSS, restorative practices, trauma-informed care, and school-based behavioral supports.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, threat assessment, and campus stabilization practices.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with students, families, staff, community agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Strong verbal, written, organizational, and case management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of direct experience in crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, and school-based mental health services preferred.
  • Demonstrated fluency in both English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions addressing emotional, behavioral, social, and mental health needs affecting student success.
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans aligned with MTSS frameworks.
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness and adjust interventions based on student progress and identified needs.
  • Support student transitions and re-entry following DAEP placement, behavioral health hospitalization, residential treatment, or extended absences.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention for students experiencing suicidality, self-harm, trauma exposure, behavioral escalation, or threats of harm.
  • Conduct suicide risk assessments and collaborate with campus leadership to implement safety and stabilization plans.
  • Lead and support campus stabilization efforts following critical incidents and provide trauma-informed interventions to affected students, groups, and classrooms.
  • Participate in threat assessment, MTSS, and multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure timely identification and intervention.
  • Collaborate with campus administrators, Reset Coordinators, educators, and support staff to implement restorative practices, de-escalation strategies, and positive behavior supports.
  • Provide mental health consultation to campus and district teams to improve student engagement, attendance, behavior, and school climate.
  • Partner with families, community agencies, and service providers to increase access to services and continuity of care.
  • Promote preventative mental health initiatives designed to reduce crisis events and strengthen school-wide wellness.
  • Support staff following high-impact incidents through consultation, psychoeducation, resilience-building strategies, and referral to Employee Assistance Program (EAP) resources.
  • Develop and deliver professional learning related to mental health wellness, trauma-informed practices, suicide prevention, threat assessment, behavior intervention, de-escalation, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and related topics.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA, professional standards, district policies, and applicable laws.
  • Maintain professional licensure and participate in ongoing professional development to strengthen clinical and crisis response competencies.
