About The Position

The School Based Clinician will complete admission assessments, facilitate individual, family, and group psychotherapy, and provide crisis intervention. This role involves working closely with clients, families, school professionals, and the treatment team to establish treatment goals and discharge criteria. The clinician will maintain regular contact with school personnel, participate in data collection for service monitoring, and contribute to weekly team meetings. Responsibilities also include completing clinical documentation, providing clinical oversight, and potentially conducting psychological testing under supervision. The role requires maintaining client confidentiality, staying informed of agency developments, and acting as an ambassador for the organization in the community, which may include public presentations. The clinician will support the agency's vision, mission, and the strengths perspective philosophy. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a recognized mental health discipline.
  • Valid license to practice in the state of Kansas required.
  • 2+ years’ experience with children and families in school based services required.
  • Passion and desire to work with children and adolescents.
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health diagnoses and treatments for school-aged children and possess the skills necessary to facilitate positive change in a school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Completes admission assessments per agency procedure for all new or returning clients.
  • Facilitates individual, family and group psychotherapy to children, adolescents and families.
  • Provides crisis intervention with families as deemed appropriate.
  • Works closely with the client, family, teachers, school professionals and the treatment team to identify treatment goals, objectives and discharge criteria.
  • Maintains regular contact with school personnel and is available for consultation regarding individual and school-based mental health issues/concerns.
  • Participates in the collection of mental health and student outcomes data to be used for the monitoring of the overall performance and effectiveness of services provided.
  • Meets productivity expectation of Family Service & Guidance Center.
  • Participates in weekly team meetings for the purpose of case assignments, case review, individual case planning and collaboration with team members.
  • Completes clinical documentation (admission assessments, progress notes, 90 day progress reviews, referrals for other services, etc.) in compliance with time lines established by Family Service & Guidance Center’s Quality Assurance standards as well as those set by funding sources.
  • Provides clinical oversight of clinical cases and direct treatment among multiple Family Service & Guidance Center providers when assigned the role of primary provider.
  • Completes psychological testing under the supervision of the licensed psychologist coordinating assessment services (for Master’s or Doctoral Level Psychologists).
  • Respects and demonstrates ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Stays informed of agency developments by reading memorandums and other agency related written communication.
  • Acts as an ambassador of Family Service & Guidance Center in the community setting.
  • Supports and actively promotes the vision and mission of Family Service & Guidance Center and the philosophy of the strengths perspective.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by respective supervisor/manager.
