The school-based Clinician / Assessment Specialist at River Valley Counseling Center (RVCC) is a dual-role position responsible for providing direct mental health services within school settings while also conducting diagnostic and psychological assessments. This role maintains a clinical caseload, delivers therapeutic interventions, and collaborates with school staff, families, and interdisciplinary providers. In addition, the position supports diagnostic evaluation efforts—particularly for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)—to ensure accurate diagnosis, inform treatment planning, and enhance overall quality of care. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in human services, Social Work or related health or services field.
  • Independent clinical licensure required (e.g., LMHC, LICSW, or equivalent)
  • Formal training in ADOS-2 administration by an approved Independent Trainer
  • Experience administering ADHD and related psychological assessment tools
  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and treating Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD
  • Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and interpret results
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming care
  • Meet all requirements for RVCC Counselor II/Clinician position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct therapeutic services to children and adolescents within assigned school settings in alignment with RVCC’s Counselor II/Clinician standards
  • Maintain an active caseload, including individual, family, and collateral sessions
  • Coordinate care with school staff, families, and external providers to support client treatment goals
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical needs
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency, state, and regulatory standards
  • Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and supervision as required
  • Respond to crisis situations and provide appropriate interventions within the school setting
  • Administer and score standardized psychological and developmental assessments, including but not limited to: Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), Autism screening tools (e.g., AQ-10), Projective and/or supplemental measures (e.g., CAT, TAT), ADHD assessments (e.g., Conners CPT-3, BASC-3)
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic intake interviews, including: Developmental history, Symptom presentation, Functional impairments, Alignment with DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria
  • Differentiate between Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and other overlapping or co-occurring conditions
  • Identify and document co-occurring mental health, behavioral, or learning concerns
  • Prepare clear, concise, and clinically sound assessment summaries and reports
  • Collaborate with psychologists, psychiatrists, and interdisciplinary team members to support diagnostic clarification and treatment planning
  • Maintain fidelity to assessment protocols, ethical standards, and best practices
  • Support a multidisciplinary approach to client care by integrating assessment findings into treatment recommendations
  • Promote culturally competent and neurodiversity-affirming assessment and clinical practices
  • Contribute to strengthening RVCC’s internal assessment capacity and service delivery model
  • Stay current with evidence-based practices in ASD, ADHD, and child/adolescent mental health
  • Other duties as assigned.
