About The Position

The School-Linked Behavioral Health Clinician provides compassionate, evidence-based counseling and support for middle school students with Waco Family Medicine, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This role involves diagnosing and delivering goal-oriented interventions for various behavioral health conditions, providing individual and group psychotherapy, and offering clinical crisis intervention and safety planning. The clinician will coordinate with medical providers, document services in an electronic health record, and adhere to all compliance standards. Additionally, the position involves program development, tracking caseloads, and contributing to program dashboards and grant requirements. The goal is to improve access to care, achieve clinical improvements, and foster positive school partnerships.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
  • Active Texas license as LPC, LPC-Associate (under supervision), or LCSW.
  • Strong skills in crisis intervention, short-term therapy, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Visual and auditory accuracy.
  • Indoor setting.
  • Continuous use of computer.
  • Long periods of sitting.
  • Frequent use of telephone.
  • Continuous repetitive grasping and manipulation of both hands.
  • Continuous conversational communication.
  • Occasional reaching, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, twisting and climbing.
  • Occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling of up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing therapy to children/adolescents.
  • Experience in school or community-based settings.
  • Training in evidence-based practices for youth (e.g., CBT, TF-CBT, DBT skills).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and deliver goal-oriented interventions for anxiety, depression, trauma and stressor related disorders, adjustment disorders, ADHD and other behavioral health conditions as appropriate.
  • Provide individual psychotherapy.
  • Offer group psychotherapy as needed and appropriate.
  • Provide appropriate clinical crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.
  • Use standardized tools to guide care and measure outcomes.
  • Coordinate access to medical pharmacotherapy as indicated.
  • Engage parents/guardians in care planning, progress updates, and family treatment when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with Waco Family Medicine providers for medical social service referrals.
  • Document services in electronic health record and meet all compliance standards.
  • Adhere to all WFM compliance, HIPAA, child abuse reporting, and clinical risk management guidelines.
  • Care coordination and application of measurement-based care.
  • Track caseloads, service utilization, referral closures, and outcomes to contribute to program dashboards.
  • Support grant and funding requirements as applicable.
