About The Position

The Monarch School Behavior Specialist is charged with the responsibility of conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), and developing, monitoring and managing individualized Behavior Intervention Plans for the assigned caseload of Monarch students. The Monarch School Behavior Specialist will work under the supervision of a qualified BCBA supervisor as designated by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB®). This position and the associated duties fulfill supervised independent fieldwork requirements as delineated by the BACB.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Must be currently in pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Education, or Psychology and taking coursework approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board® (pursuing either BCBA or BCaBA).
  • 1Year Educational Aide Permit – Ohio Department of Education
  • Pass Safety Care Core Curriculum by passing the written exam, attending the full duration of training, participating and passing the required role plays, and demonstrating the full competencies up to and including the Two-Person Stability Hold required.
  • Possess skill, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential duties of their role; keeps knowledge up to date.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in supervision with Behavior Analysts, to include attending ABA group supervision meetings twice monthly or as scheduled by the Behavior Analyst Supervisors.
  • Under supervision of a qualified BCBA supervisor, conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Functional Analyses (FA), as needed, for the assigned caseload of Monarch students.
  • Under the supervision of a qualified BCBA supervisor, develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans based on FBA results.
  • Monitor/coordinate implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans across school settings.
  • Utilize Behavior Skills Training to train others on Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Develop and maintain behavioral measurement and collection systems and create graphical data representations and reports for progress-monitoring of students on caseload.
  • Observe caseload of students in the classroom on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established time frames.
  • Under the supervision of a qualified BCBA Supervisor, train staff on principles of applied behavior analysis including defining behavior, reinforcement and punishment, strengthening and weakening behavior, and identification of antecedents and consequences.
  • Consult and collaborate with directors, supervisors, teachers, and related service providers regarding behavior intervention techniques and strategies.
  • Communicate objective information to parents and other stakeholders when necessary.
  • Contribute to the development of behavioral goals and objectives in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  • As necessary, utilize Safety Care procedures, including at a minimum, make use of the necessary Two-Person Stability Hold.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
  • Keep all required trainings, certifications and licensure current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  • Respect the privacy of students and hold in confidence all information obtained during the student’s treatment. All student-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  • Abide by the code of ethics as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board ®.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
