About The Position

The Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG) is seeking a part-time School Assistant to support the daily operations of its School programs at the Mark Morris Dance Center. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about dance education who excels at customer service, aiming to create a welcoming environment for children, families, faculty, and visitors. Reporting to the School Operations Manager, the assistant will provide administrative support, aid with registration and scheduling, assist with camps and special events, cover weekend front desk duties, and potentially teach or substitute teach School classes.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
One (1) year of administrative, customer service, education, arts administration, or related experience preferred.
One (1) year of experience teaching dance or movement classes to children and/or teens; early childhood teaching experience preferred.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by program needs.
Ability to adjust work schedule during peak program periods, including camps and the beginning and end of each semester.
Ability to teach classes and provide substitute coverage when assigned.
Successful completion of all required pre-employment screenings, including background checks, as applicable.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to learn and effectively use Active Network, Zendesk, and other department software.

Responsibilities

Respond to School voicemail, email inquiries, and Zendesk, routing inquiries as needed.
Build and maintain School classes, schedules, and registration information within Active Network.
Support School registration periods by registering new and returning students via phone and in person.
Assist with the planning and day-of logistics for end-of-semester Friends and Family Days and Community Sharings.
Provide hands-on support for School programs, including camps, special projects, and seasonal initiatives.
Increase support during camps and at the beginning and end of each semester, with the flexibility to adjust work schedules and teach when necessary.
Secure last-minute weekend substitute coverage and teach classes when needed.
Provide weekend School support at the Front Desk, greeting and directing faculty and families, and addressing time-sensitive issues.
Provide weekend Front Desk coverage and other coverage as needed, in coordination with the School Operations Manager and Dance Center Operations Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned.
