About The Position

CWCC offers two educational advancement options for its employees: a CDA (Child Development Associate) or an Associate's degree in E.C.E., both fully covered by the company and available online and at the employee's own pace. This role involves developing and executing individual education plans for school-age children (Kindergarten to age 12) under the guidance of center administration. The lead teacher is responsible for ensuring a safe and educational learning environment, incorporating evidence-based curriculum, and participating in professional development. The team collaborates with the early learning coordinator for weekly reviews of classroom and child data.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Must be at least 21 years of age for insurance and transport purposes
  • Experience supervising school-age children (grades K-6) in a group setting

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a licensed childcare facility, camp, or school setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe transportation to and from the child’s assigned school during the school year and field trips during the summer.
  • Provide a high-quality learning environment and instructional activities.
  • Meet with the Early Learning Coordinator weekly to review classroom and child data.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled trainings in support of ongoing professional development.
  • Provide an enhanced curriculum focused on social-emotional development, language and literacy, and physical development.
  • Self-reflect on teaching practices and develop a continuous plan based on a self-assessment tool.
  • Implement a program that focuses on the development of social and emotional intelligence.
  • Positively engage with children and use appropriate Conscious Discipline methods.
  • Perform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Meet with assistant teacher and aide to review lesson plans and assign best teaching practices.
  • Complete and submit required forms promptly, including but not limited to lesson plans, portfolios, assessments, observations, transition plans.
  • Provide ongoing observations and assessment of each child.
  • Maintain documentation of each child’s progress and growth with the support of the 40 Developmental Assets and the skills and structures of Conscious Discipline.
  • Review and interpret assessment data to determine the needs of the classroom.
  • Conduct two parent-teacher conferences a year to discuss each child’s individual development and progress.
  • Communicate regularly with parents utilizing such things as parent meetings and daily sheets.
  • Interpret school programs for parents to strengthen the understanding of the child’s needs and the importance of an early learning environment for the continued development of the child.
  • Attend staff and parent meetings, and school district coalition meetings as requested.
  • In cooperation with other staff, complete daily cleaning duties.
  • Carry out routine duties such as clean-up and the supervision of the children at all times.
  • Ensure classroom materials, furniture, and supplies are properly maintained.
  • Any other duties assigned by the center administration.
