About The Position

Northstar Preschools at Clear Lake is seeking a dependable, energetic, and nurturing School-Age Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate enjoys working with elementary-age children, creates a positive and engaging classroom environment, and understands the importance of safety, supervision, and consistent routines. This position may include morning school transportation, classroom hours, and afternoon school transportation, depending on the center's enrollment and school schedule. Our ideal candidate is someone who is creative, capable, and kind and is committed to providing children with a safe, positive, and enriching experience every day.

Requirements

• Must meet all applicable Texas Child Care Licensing and center employment requirements.
• Must be willing and qualified to assist with school transportation and bus routes.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification as required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with school-age children preferred.
• Experience with before-school and after-school programs is a plus.
• Previous childcare or classroom experience preferred.
• Must be dependable, responsible, patient, and able to work as part of a team.
• Must be able to actively supervise children and manage a classroom of school-age students.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for school-age children before and after school.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities that support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
• Assist children with homework, reading, educational activities, and independent learning.
• Lead fun and creative activities, including arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, and group projects.
• Maintain consistent classroom routines and expectations while using positive guidance and redirection.
• Practice active supervision at all times and maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios.
• Build positive relationships with children and families while promoting a welcoming classroom environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom.
• Complete required classroom documentation, attendance records, lesson plans, and daily communication as assigned.
• Follow all Northstar Preschools policies, Texas Child Care Licensing requirements, and health and safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively with the administrative team and other teachers regarding children's needs, behavior, and daily activities.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, professional development, drills, and center events as required.
• Safely transport school-age children to and from designated elementary schools as assigned.
• Complete morning and afternoon school bus routes according to the center's schedule.
• Follow all transportation safety procedures and Texas Child Care Licensing requirements.
• Conduct required attendance and child counts before leaving the center, before departing the school, and upon arrival at the center.
• Maintain active supervision of children while loading, unloading, and riding the bus.
• Ensure children are properly seated and secured according to transportation safety requirements.
• Complete required transportation documentation and communicate any concerns or incidents to the administrative team immediately.
• Perform required vehicle safety checks before operating the center vehicle.
• Maintain a professional and positive relationship with school personnel, families, and children.
• Assist with transportation-related duties, including loading/unloading children and ensuring all children are safely accounted for.
