About The Position

Winwood Children's Center, part of Cadence Education, is seeking a School Age Teacher to join its teaching team in Lansdowne, Virginia. The teacher helps create a positive learning environment, supports children's development and safety, and collaborates with colleagues to implement an engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum. The role includes sharing children's daily milestones with parents, observing and respecting children's interests, enhancing play, modeling appropriate social behavior, and helping plan a balanced daily schedule.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must meet all state preschool teacher requirements.
• High level of flexibility and willingness to work within business hours.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as a teacher assistant or in a licensed daycare.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the teaching team to encourage a positive learning environment for all children at the center.
• Document and share important milestones in each child's day with parents.
• Collaborate with teachers and leaders to implement an engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Respect and observe children's interests.
• Intervene when needed to maintain children's safety.
• Enhance children's play with language, toys, and activities.
• Encourage and model developmentally appropriate social behavior and expectations.
• Contribute ideas to a daily schedule balancing quiet and active activities, indoor and outdoor activities, and fine and gross motor activities.
