About The Position

The YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking a School Age Program Site Director who will act as a role model for staff and provide care for children. This position requires someone with energy, a happy demeanor, and strong leadership skills to nurture, support, and empower children while coordinating the staff team with empathy, accountability, role modeling, and hands-on work. The ideal candidate is a communicator, listener, and patient answerer of questions, who is detail-oriented, flexible, and calm under pressure. They should be even-keeled, comfortable with both administrative and programmatic tasks, and able to connect with both people and numbers, as well as policies and human nature. The ability to speak eloquently to parents and administrative staff while also engaging children is essential.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Previous experience working with children in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable.
  • Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (we can provide this).
  • A four-year degree in a related field OR
  • An associate’s degree or sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited college or university and three (3) months (455 hours) of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual OR
  • 3,185 hours of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual OR
  • A current early childhood professional credential level 2 or higher.
  • Documented experience includes experience working directly with school-age children in such areas as Sunday school, Scouts, sports, or babysitting.

Responsibilities

  • Engage campers and motivate staff for an amazing day camp experience.
  • Ensures high quality programs and plans new program activities.
  • Trains and schedules staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Develops and implements programming for their assigned site.
  • Independently supervises all staff, provides appropriate direction and participates in all programming activities.
  • Adheres to program standards including CDHS licensing, safety and cleanliness.
  • Attends staff meetings, trainings, association and site-specific events as appropriate.
  • Follows and ensures implementation of all YMCA emergency procedures, site-specific guidelines, recommended practices, pertinent standards and policies, and State regulations.
  • Maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants and community members.
  • Maintains confidentiality of YMCA issues, incidents and records.
  • Is on time for all shifts; and is flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including full days.
  • Practices positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques to participants with natural consequences in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures and expectations.
  • Maintains regular and timely communication with supervisor concerning program and participant needs.
  • Maintain required records, staff files, child files, attendance records, and other necessary information.
  • Monitors and maintains site budget and purchase needed supplies and materials.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
