School Age Program Leader - Boulder
About The Position
The YMCA's Youth Programs are growing fast, and we are seeking outstanding Program Leaders to support our expanding school-age offerings and grow into leadership roles at the YMCA of Northern Colorado. We are looking for candidates who love to get creative with construction paper and duct tape, who are happy to help kids with even the most challenging homework and who are always ready for a game of tag. We are looking for staff to ensure our kiddos are safe, secure and engaged while teaching them our core values: respect, responsibility, honesty and caring. Help us make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve each day in our programs.
Requirements
- Age 18 years or older.
- Provide documentation of 480 hours of experience working directly with school-age children in such areas as Sunday school, Scouts, sports, or babysitting.
- Become certified or supply documentation of current certification in CPR and First Aid (can be complete through the YMCA).
- Work well on a team, communicate well with youth, parents and colleagues, and be committed to high quality programming.

Responsibilities
- Working as part of our site team to ensure a safe and challenging environment for our school age participants implementing our core values, gym and group games, arts and crafts.
- Independently lead and supervise children in small and large group activities.
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants and community members.
- Maintains confidentiality of YMCA issues, incidents and records.
- Is on time for all shifts; and is flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including full days.
- Provides leadership and support to Program Aides and Volunteers.
- Practices positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques to participants with natural consequences in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures and expectations.
