About The Position

The School Age Program Leader is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing engaging and developmentally appropriate activities for school-age children in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and the ability to support children’s academic, social, and emotional development before and after school, as well as during school breaks. Requirements

  • Have a genuine passion for the education and care of children?
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Have one year of professional teaching experience (required)?
  • Have an associate degree or higher in ECE or related degree (required)?
  • Background check clearance as required by state regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with school-age children
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a group of children in a structured environment
  • Have one year of professional teaching experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a structured daily schedule for before-school, after-school, and school break programs
  • Plan engaging activities including homework support, STEM, creative arts, physical activities, and social development
  • Ensure activities are age-appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with curriculum goals
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
  • Supervise children at all times, including during transitions, playground time, and field trips
  • Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations and center policies
  • Address behavioral concerns using positive guidance and redirection techniques
  • Provide homework assistance and encourage good study habits
  • Foster a positive learning environment that supports school readiness and academic success
  • Lead and support assistant teachers or aides within the program
  • Communicate effectively with staff, management, and families
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and center events
  • Build positive relationships with families
  • Provide updates on children’s progress, behavior, and daily activities
  • Address parent questions or concerns in a professional and timely manner
  • Maintain accurate attendance and program records
  • Assist with planning and coordinating community events or program activities
  • Ensure proper classroom ratios are maintained at all times
