About The Position

Compass Early Learning and Care (CELC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated School Age Educator to join their team. This role involves engaging with children, families, and community partners in a kindergarten or school-age classroom setting. The educator will work a split shift, typically after school from 2 pm to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, with full-day shifts during school breaks and professional development days. CELC is a large, not-for-profit organization with a long history of providing high-quality licensed childcare and home childcare services in East-Central Ontario, committed to creating nurturing environments that foster children's curiosity and growth.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years’ experience working with children and youth.
  • Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • Valid certifications, including a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators OR is currently pursuing or is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma. OR has an alternative childcare designation that is eligible for Director's Approval (i.e., Child and Youth, Recreation and Leisure, and Ontario Certified Teachers - Primary and Junior).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children’s unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
  • Documenting children’s learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
  • Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
  • Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
  • Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
  • Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
  • Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.
