School-Age Childcare Staff – Before & After School
About The Position
Healthy Kids Programs is hiring part-time School-Age Childcare Staff for its Before and After School Programs in the Wappingers Central School District for the 2026–2027 school year. Program locations include Brinckerhoff Elementary School in Fishkill, Myers Corner and Sheafe Road Elementary Schools in Wappingers Falls, and Vassar Road Elementary School in Poughkeepsie, New York. The schedule follows the school calendar, with morning programs from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM and afternoon programs from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Staff may work mornings, afternoons, or both. Pay is $16.00–$17.00 per hour. Staff facilitate engaging activities using the Healthy Kids Curriculum and help provide children with a safe, healthy, and fun environment. The role includes supporting children's learning and development, following applicable state and program policies, and assisting with program operations. Employer-paid childcare is available for employees’ school-age children enrolled in the program during the employee’s working hours.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or at least one year of experience working with children under age 13.
- Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
- Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
- Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities, as well as homework completion.
- Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children in the program.
- Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
- Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
