About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Site Director for our After School Program at AJ Smith Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is ideal for individuals who love working with children, possess energy, kindness, and patience, and enjoy encouraging children's curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The position requires teamwork, effective communication with families, and a commitment to providing exceptional care. The schedule follows the school calendar, with afternoon hours from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm. This part-time, non-exempt position is well-suited for parents seeking a schedule aligned with the school day, education majors looking for hands-on experience, or retirees wanting to mentor children.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or related field plus 2 years of experience working with children under 13, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Two years of college with 18 credits in a related field plus 2 years of experience working with children under 13, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• NY State Children’s Program Administrator Credential plus 2 years of relevant experience.
• School-Age Child Care Credential or equivalent office-recognized credential plus 2 years of relevant experience.
• Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
• Must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
