About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Site Director for our After School Program at Croydon Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is ideal for individuals who love working with children, possess energy, kindness, and patience, and enjoy encouraging children's curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The position requires working well with teammates, communicating effectively with families, and being reliable, organized, and committed to providing exceptional care. The schedule follows the school calendar, with program hours from 2:15 pm to 5:30 pm.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent, including a General Equivalency Diploma (GED), High School Equivalency Test (HiSET), or Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC).
  • Have 3 college credits in management or supervision from an accredited college or university, or at least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management position, or a written plan to complete 3 credits in management or supervision.
  • Have a minimum of 1,500 hours of experience working with children in a licensed childcare program or public/private elementary school.
  • Must be medically cleared to perform all job duties and free of communicable diseases, including tuberculosis (TB).
  • Demonstrates a positive, friendly demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with children, parents, and team members.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional in conduct and appearance.
  • Able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds, and meet the physical demands of working with children.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of an associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, with coursework related to early childhood education or a related field
  • An additional 3,000 hours of experience working with children in a licensed childcare program or public/private elementary school, along with a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in center-based programs awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition
  • Current certification in early childhood education, elementary education, or special education issued by the Department of Education
  • Certification from a teacher preparation program accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) in Infant and Toddler, Early Childhood, or Elementary I, together with 60 college credits from an accredited college or university
  • Documentation of 60 college credits, including at least 24 credits in related coursework and a minimum of 3 credits in each of the following core knowledge areas: Children with special needs, Child growth and development, Curriculum for early childhood education

Responsibilities

  • Ensure staff and program operations consistently meet state regulations, Healthy Kids policies, and host school requirements.
  • Plan and lead engaging, hands-on activities aligned with the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academics, arts, and homework support.
  • Oversee daily operational tasks such as accurate attendance and registration tracking, scheduling, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents and caregivers using the Playground App.
  • Communicate regularly with your direct report to share updates, address concerns, and support a positive team environment. Together, you will ensure high-quality care, strong staff morale, and proactive problem-solving.
