About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School Age Childcare Lead Teacher for our Before and After School Program at Pittsburgh Minadeo Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year. This part-time, non-exempt position follows the school calendar and offers opportunities for morning (7:00 AM – 9:30 AM) and/or afternoon (3:30 PM – 6:00 PM) programs. The ideal candidate loves working with children, brings energy, kindness, and patience, enjoys encouraging curiosity, creativity, and confidence, works well with teammates, and communicates effectively with families. Reliability, organization, and a commitment to exceptional care are key. This role is well-suited for parents seeking a schedule aligned with the school day, education majors or future teachers looking for hands-on experience, or retirees who enjoy mentoring children. Requirements

  • Candidate must possess one of the following: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field
  • Bachelor’s degree including 30 credit hours in the above fields plus 1 year of relevant experience
  • Associate’s degree in the above fields plus 2 years of relevant experience
  • Associate’s degree including 30 credit hours in the above fields plus 3 years of relevant experience
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials plus 2 years of relevant experience
  • Relevant experience includes: working with school-age children in after-school programs, summer camps, classrooms, or similar settings, including planning activities, supervising groups, and supporting social-emotional and academic growth.
  • 18 years of age
  • Must pass a full background check, including fingerprinting and reference checks
  • Must be medically fit to perform job duties which includes a clear TB.
  • Warm, friendly, professional, and reliable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
  • Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
  • Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
