About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a part-time School-Age Childcare Head Teacher for its Before School Program at Stafford Elementary School in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, for the 2026–2027 school year. The position follows the school calendar and works the morning program from 7:00 to 8:10 a.m. Pay is $20.00 per hour.

The Head Teacher leads hands-on activities based on the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, and art activities, group experiences, and homework completion. The role provides children with a safe, healthy, and fun environment and serves as a positive role model. The Head Teacher follows state guidelines and Healthy Kids and host-school policies, and supports program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.

Requirements

• Meet one of the following education and experience pathways: a bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, at least 360 hours of documented, supervised experience in a family childcare home, childcare center, or group childcare home, and at least one semester of student teaching with preschool-aged children; a current Center-Based Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and at least 1,080 hours of documented, supervised experience working directly with children in a legally operating childcare center serving children through preschool; or at least 12 credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and at least 1,080 hours of documented, supervised experience in a qualifying childcare center.
• Be medically cleared to perform all job duties and free of communicable diseases, including tuberculosis (TB).
• Demonstrate a warm, friendly, and positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, parents, and team members.
• Maintain professionalism and be dependable and punctual.
• Be physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds, and actively engage in activities required to safely supervise and keep up with children.
