School-Age Childcare Assistant – Before & After School
About The Position
Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a part-time School-Age Childcare Assistant for its Before and After School Program at Columbia Middle School Taylor Campus in Columbia, Pennsylvania, for the 2026–2027 school year. The schedule follows the school calendar. The morning program runs from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM, and the afternoon program runs from 2:45 PM to 6:00 PM; opportunities may be available for either program or both. Pay is $13.50–$14.50 per hour. The role supports children ages 5–12 in a safe, structured, and engaging program. Employer-paid childcare is available for the employee’s school-age children enrolled in the program on the days and during the hours the employee works. The position may suit parents seeking a school-day-aligned schedule, education majors or future teachers seeking hands-on experience, and retirees who enjoy mentoring children.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience working with children under 13.
- Must pass a full background check, including fingerprinting and reference checks.
- Must be medically fit to perform job duties, including having a clear TB.
- Warm, friendly, professional, and reliable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities, as well as homework completion.
- Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children in the program.
- Follow state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
- Depending on the position, perform management functions such as maintaining accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing.
