School-Age Childcare Assistant Site Director – Before & After School
About The Position
Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant Site Director for our Before and After School Programs at our Frelinghuysen Elementary School location for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is ideal for individuals who love working with children, possess energy, kindness, and patience, and enjoy encouraging children's curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The position requires working well with teammates and communicating effectively with families, demonstrating reliability, organization, and a commitment to providing exceptional care. This role is particularly well-suited for parents seeking a schedule that aligns with the school day, education majors or future teachers looking for hands-on experience, and retirees who enjoy staying active and mentoring children. The position is part-time, non-exempt, and follows the school calendar with opportunities available for morning, afternoon, or both programs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–3 years of experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or youth program setting.
- Able to pass required background and fingerprint clearances.
- Calm, flexible, and resourceful in a fast-paced environment.
- Focus on results, not excuses; purpose-driven.
- Motivating, positivity, leadership.
- Empathy, professionalism, G-rated work environment.
Nice To Haves
- Some college or early childhood coursework preferred.
- Some experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
- Familiarity with before- and after-school program environments a plus.
- Knowledge of state childcare licensing or school-age care regulations helpful but not required.
Responsibilities
- Ensure kids are engaged, safe, and having fun every day, reflecting Healthy Kids Programs’ model.
- Ensure the site is fully staffed every day with prepared and supported teachers.
- Operate the site in ratio at all times, ensuring records are accurate and current.
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and materials for teachers, ensuring restocking occurs before issues arise.
