About The Position

The School Age Child Care - Site Manager is responsible for overseeing site staff and children, providing support to the instructional program within the assigned building. This role involves creating and fostering professional relationships with building staff and administration, developing lesson plans using curriculum, and organizing and directing age-appropriate activities for students from infants to 8th grade. The Site Manager works with a diverse group of students with various abilities and needs, ensuring staff obtain required certifications, adapt activities and materials, and integrate curricula for all students. The position also supports program staff in the daily operation of the program and helps develop a learning environment that encourages exploration, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar, and punctuation, age appropriate learning activities, health and safety standards and knowledge of child development program requirements and regulations.
  • Skills are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
  • Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safety practices, operating standard equipment including computers and pertinent software applications, preparing and maintaining accurate records; and optimal communication skills for effective interaction with students, family members, and other staff.
  • Ability is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment.
  • Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods.
  • Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment.
  • Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans.
  • Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities, frequent interruptions, communicating with diverse groups of individuals; maintaining confidentiality; and working as part of a team.
  • Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; directing other persons within a small work unit; tracking budget expenditures.
  • Job related experience is required.
  • Must be at least eighteen years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Administers a variety of site activities (e.g., club time, craft activities, family events, literacy nights, STEM nights, community service projects, etc.) to ensure program philosophy and curriculum are followed.
  • Assists with contacting substitutes for staff to maintain program quality and safety.
  • Attends meetings, workshops, and seminars as assigned to gather necessary information.
  • Communicates with internal and external personnel (e.g., teachers, parents, other school and outside agency personnel) to convey and/or receive information.
  • Fosters positive individual relationships with students, parents, and staff to build student confidence and self-esteem.
  • Greets individuals wishing to enter the building and allows authorized entrance (e.g., check in/out students, parents, and SACC staff) to ensure building security and direct individuals.
  • Maintains assigned area (e.g., setting up program spaces, doing bulletin boards, following cleaning guidelines) to create a clean, comfortable, stimulating, and supportive environment.
  • Manages assigned projects and activities (e.g., reports, forms, goals, set-up, clean-up, drills, lesson plans, inventory, schedule) to meet established timelines and objectives.
  • Monitors student plans (e.g., IEP, 504, behavior) to observe, document, report, and ensure compliance.
  • Monitors students during assigned periods in various school environments (e.g., classroom, playgrounds, hallways, cafeteria) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Prepares a variety of written documents and materials (e.g., correspondence, program descriptions, parent notices, files, reports, purchase orders, manage shopping budget) for documentation and information sharing.
  • Prepares school program and activities appropriate for individuals and groups (e.g., program schedule, lesson plans, science, art, family events) to implement program goals.
  • Provides ongoing feedback to supervisor, staff, teachers, and parents regarding student progress and collaboration.
  • Supervises staff and students at the assigned site (e.g., manage attendance, maintain ratios, follow cleaning guidelines, practice safety drills, monitor camera system) to ensure safe and efficient site operation.
  • Trains and coaches staff in procedures and protocols (e.g., Basic training checklist, volunteer checklist, staff meetings) to improve employee knowledge, skills, and efficiency.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
