About The Position

The Goddard School of Walton Park is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children to learn, grow, and have fun. Our before and after program offers exciting opportunities for children to explore, create, and develop essential skills in a supportive and enriching setting. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Age Before and After Care Teacher to join our team. This role involves providing high-quality care and supervision for school-age children before and after school hours, including transportation to and from school. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children, ensuring their well-being and development while effectively managing transportation logistics.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Clean driving record with a valid driver's license.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

  • Previous experience working with children in a camp or educational setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive and responsive supervision for children during before and after school care.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate activities, including educational and recreational programs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment where all children feel valued and supported.
  • Safely transport children to and from school using a designated vehicle.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations to ensure the safety of children during transportation.
  • Perform regular vehicle inspections and maintain cleanliness and readiness of the vehicle.
  • Develop and implement daily activity plans that cater to the diverse interests and developmental needs of the children.
  • Organize and supervise group activities, including arts and crafts, games, and homework help.
  • Maintain open and positive communication with parents/guardians regarding their child’s progress, needs, and any incidents.
  • Collaborate with school staff and other caregivers to ensure a seamless experience for children.
  • Monitor and manage the health and safety of children in your care.
  • Administer first aid when necessary and ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and other relevant documentation.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in child care and education.
  • Adhere to all relevant licensing and regulatory requirements.
