Scheduling Specialist
About The Position
The Scheduling Specialist supports customer relations, physician relations, patient care, and hospital business services by performing quality functions for scheduling and registering services for multiple areas throughout the hospital. The Scheduling Specialist is a highly skilled Patient Access colleague responsible for timely and accurate appointment scheduling with expertise in scheduling protocols, registration, insurance requirements/verification, identification of accurate patient responsibility with notification to the patient for Trinity Health. As a “Specialist I, Scheduling, Patient Access” you will be responsible for pre-registration, scheduling, electronically verifying insurance eligibility & accurately identifying & collecting patient financial responsibility. You will handle complex scheduled events, including high dollar testing, associated studies & those with study specific instructions & communicate effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow & customer service. You will begin the overall patient experience & initiate the billing process for any services provided by the hospital.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) to Five (5) years experience in area of expertise such as scheduling, financial clearance, or patient access.
- National certification in HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.
- Must be proficient in the use of Patient Registration/Patient Accounting systems & related software systems.
Responsibilities
