About The Position

The Scheduling Specialist interacts in a professional, respectful manner with internal and external customers, and provides excellent customer service to patients and visitors. This role is for someone who thrives working in a fast-paced, multi-provider clinic and can handle multiple projects simultaneously. The team members have a strong work ethic, positive attitudes, and support each other through collaborative teamwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • One year of health care experience including customer relations required.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of professional office/healthcare experience preferred.
  • One year of medical terminology or certification is preferred.
  • Six months call center experience preferred.
  • CHAA – Certified Healthcare Access Associate upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedules procedures for multiple departments in an accurate and timely manner ensuring maximum productivity and expedient patient flow.
  • Selects appropriate procedures and ICD diagnosis, referral, provider, visit type or case, insurance network coverage and location to expeditated patient access to care.
  • Effectively communicates with patients, physician office scheduling, surgery scheduling, and/or other necessary staff as needed to reduce appointment time/date errors.
  • Verifies medical necessity criteria to ensure documentation in compliance with applicable payor guidelines.
  • Participates in special projects or completes other duties as assigned.
