About The Position

The Scheduling and Inventory Control Manager is responsible for integrating, planning, and executing production at the plant level to drive efficiency. This role involves managing the item creation process, ensuring data accuracy, and coordinating input from all functional areas within the plant. The position requires evaluating, approving, and entering substitute or alternate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings. Due to the complexity of item specifications and plant machinery capabilities, this position demands a high level of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate forecasting and inventory management.
  • Ensuring efficient and cost-effective production.
  • Optimizing machine utilization, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Creating and maintaining items, product definitions (specifications, routings, and bills of material), and all associated data attributes required for Oracle.
  • Achieving cost savings through material yield, minimal scrap, minimal reel changes, minimal abnormal operating practices, and minimal maintenance downtime.
  • Ensuring on-time customer delivery.
  • Integrating the planning function at the plant level, including participation in weekly S&OP calls and ensuring timely and accurate plant input.
  • Reviewing forecast accuracy for the plants and executing the day-to-day S&OP plan for supply and production planning.
  • Reacting to monthly, weekly, and daily changes in forecast that affect supply and production planning.
  • Working with buyers to ensure timely, efficient, and optimized execution of Purchase Orders (POs) and to ensure optimal yield and efficient machine scheduling.
  • Maintaining front-line total inventory accountability, tracking inventory progression, and identifying root causes for inventory increases or shortages.
  • Working with the buy planner to reduce raw material inventory through the use of substitutes and excess inventory from other plants.
  • Ensuring the right inventory in the right quantity is available at the right time at the plants for processing.
  • Working with Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) to review and determine Make-to-Stock (MTS) vs. Make-to-Order (MTO) items.
  • Managing aged finished goods inventory and reviewing the order book to ensure date maintenance by CSRs.
  • Troubleshooting customer complaints and working within the plant to resolve issues.
  • Collaborating with local plant technical services to avoid increasing the complexity of raw items by identifying substitutes for new items, reducing unnecessary over-specification, and reducing over-engineering of items.
  • Working with the regional buyer to determine when a new raw material item is needed.
  • Participating in plant leadership meetings and conducting regular and frequent 'integration meetings' at the plant level.
  • Creating new items in Oracle, including Item Number, Bill of Material, Routing, Customer Cross Reference, Customer Specification, Item Specification, Routing instructions, and Unit of Measure Conversion.
