About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health opened its doors in April 2025 as the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 25 years! Integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8, this enhanced integrated delivery system will establish a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. Our advanced hospital will offer 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, onsite 550-car parking garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. We are seeking an experienced Scheduling/Billing Coordinator - Surgical Services (Full-Time) Our ideal candidate under general supervision, schedules all division surgeries. Proficient in-patient scheduling, professional telephone etiquette and customer satisfaction in support of the mission of CHRMC. Surgical scheduler duties involve scheduling for hospital outpatient/inpatient along with Ambulatory Surgery Center along with changing and cancelling appointments. Ability to effectively function as a member of a collaborative team. Ability to independently organize and manage time effectively, setting appropriate priorities. Schedules and coordinates all elective surgical procedures allowing adequate time for each procedure according to the Physicians historical time. Obtain and enters the necessary booking information from the surgeon’s office accurately. Attempts to schedule similar type cases in the same room to increase efficiency. Communicates special equipment, instrument, and supply requests to appropriate associates. Refers conflicts and procedural questions to OR Clinical Coordinator or designee. Obtains missing patient information, equipment needs, CPT codes and special request from physician’s office for a complete and accurate surgical posting. Communicate any changes affecting the next day surgical schedule to Lead Scheduler, Scheduling Supervisor, OR Clinical Coordinator or designee and other members of the health team affected by the changes. Develop and promotes a constructive, positive atmosphere withing the work area by demonstrating the ability to maintain cooperation with and assist fellow team members. Will attempt to consolidate the schedule as much as possible, closing open gaps whenever possible. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Demonstrated communication, organization and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Analytical thinking ability to assimilate information and make decisions based upon guidelines.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Accuracy and speed in typing
  • Understands the usage of the system s security and systems interface (i.e.Cerner, SMS, Sorian, SecureNet, and Forms on Demand)
  • Understands the appropriate usage of the master menu, inpatient/outpatient flow, census, verification, comments/inquiry, maintaining and upgrading accounts and reconciliation processes
  • Understands downtime procedures
