About The Position

This role uses specialized knowledge to support key areas of the organization related to diagnostic imaging. The Scheduler will utilize data, research analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to support colleagues and leadership in achieving the organization’s strategic objectives. This position serves as a peer influencer and may direct a project or project team by applying industry experience and specialized knowledge. The Scheduler is responsible for pre-registration, scheduling, electronically verifying insurance eligibility, and accurately identifying and collecting patient financial responsibility. They will handle complex scheduled events, including high dollar testing and associated studies, and communicate effectively with service delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service. This role begins the overall patient experience and initiates the billing process for any services provided by the hospital. A comprehensive knowledge of multiple scheduling systems and demonstrated proficiency in complex diagnostic testing appointment scheduling processes with a minimum of five plus (5) years of scheduling experience in an acute care setting is required. The Scheduler will schedule complex facility-based ancillary testing across multiple facilities/states and be able to schedule for multiple facilities with significant variants in protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) to Five (5) years experience in area of expertise such as scheduling, financial clearance, or patient access.
  • National certification in HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Patient Registration/Patient Accounting systems & related software systems.
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of multiple scheduling systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in complex diagnostic testing appointment scheduling processes with a minimum of five plus (5) years of scheduling experience in an acute care setting.

  • Medical terminology required & knowledge of diagnostic & procedural coding.
  • Insurance verification with the ability to explain benefits, secure necessary authorizations.
