About The Position

Willamette Valley Medical Center is seeking a Scheduler to join their team. This full-time position involves scheduling patient testing, procedures, and admissions, obtaining necessary pre-certifications and authorizations, and entering accurate insurance information. The Scheduler will also handle incoming phone calls and ensure smooth operations by maintaining knowledge of scheduling reports and coordinating with patient registration staff. This role is crucial in supporting the facilities that interface with patients and community members, contributing to the goal of making communities healthier.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Computer experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior scheduling experience in a healthcare environment is strongly preferred.
  • Medical terminology, billing, and/or collection experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patient testing/procedures/admissions, ensuring personnel availability.
  • Obtains pre-cert/authorization numbers and enters them into the scheduling or registration system.
  • Obtains and enters accurate insurance information.
  • Answers incoming phone calls.
  • Informs patients or physician's office staff of any carrier issues that may affect benefits.
  • Informs patients or physician's office staff of special instructions, testing requirements, or other pertinent information.
  • Maintains knowledge of scheduling reports for the next day to ensure patient registration staff are aware of presenting patients.
  • Obtains physician's orders and authorization/pre-certification.
  • Enters outpatient procedures in the Order Entry System.
  • Ensures consistency between scheduling and admissions modules for admitted patients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
