About The Position

The Scheduler-Periop coordinates, records, and transmits information pertinent to the scheduling of patients undergoing surgical interventions or special procedures. Collects data, documentation, completion of authorization and processing within appropriate time frames. Serves as a primary liaison to disseminate essential information among physicians, physician surgery scheduling staff, nursing personnel, and ancillary departments; utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service and professionalism; contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce. These services may be provided for both LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience in a medical office required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software and medical terminology preferred.
  • Able to keyboard 40 wpm.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position.
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math functions: manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to distinguish colors as necessary; write, hear, read and speak sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
