About The Position

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center. The employee shall support Orange Coast Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. The Scheduler II works in the Breast Center, under general supervision, accurately schedules breast center appointments, greets patients upon arrival and completes the check-in processes, performs all front office tasks, ensures all necessary forms and information is obtained prior to visit, answers phone calls per department expectations, maintains RightFax/filing system, collaborates with medical records departments (internal and external), assists technologists as needed, and other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Requirements

  • One year clerical and filing experience, preferred
  • Proficient in all computer software including but not limited to Epic, MagView, PACS, Word
  • Medical terminology, preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Breast Center experience, preferred
  • Previous scheduling experience, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate with quality customer service skills (both written and verbal)to patients, co-workers, physicians and other departments/offices.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate high-level phone, verbal/non-verbal, fax and email etiquette.
  • Ability to communicate patient’s appointment and visit-type information in a manner that it is understandable by the patient.
  • Ability to field patient questions appropriately to ensure they are answered by the appropriate subject matter expert (i.e. appointment questions by scheduler II, medical questions by clinical staff).
  • Ability to apply Simply Better customer service to all patients and co-workers, at all times.
  • Ability to effectively apply organizational skills ensuring all patient records are properly maintained according to HIPAA policies.
  • Ability to assess and respond timely and appropriately to the urgent needs of physicians, co-workers, leads and management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate patients’ pertinent clinical information.
  • Ability to be at work, be on time and maintain accurate MTM records.
  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures and initiatives.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Under minimal supervision, performs all assigned tasks
