About The Position

Peterson Trucks has a need for a Scheduled Service Technician based at our San Leandro, CA location. The shift for this job is 2:30 PM to 11:30 PM. SUMMARY Performs preventative maintenance to rental trucks in the field. Performs light mechanical repairs and/or diagnostic work on trucks as needed.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree from a fully accredited college or technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or other closely related field; and a minimum of 2 years of directly related experience in preventative maintenance and service repair of trucks; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on trucks including changing oil and filters, service greasing, and light mechanical work.
  • Perform lubrication services including checking and filling fluid levels to O.E.M. specifications and refueling as requested and supplied by customer.
  • Follow manufacturer and company service guidelines and procedures.
  • Inspect trucks for external signs of potential component failure.
  • Maintain service readiness of field lube truck including customer service fluid supplies.
  • Operate overhead cranes, hoists, power tools and other shop equipment in a safe manner.
  • Complete service reports, lube reports, timecards, and other related paperwork for all worked performed.
  • Provide required tools as designated by company tool list.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record, adhering to all DOT requirements including keeping accurate logbooks, service hours and other records as required.
  • Attend all training classes and profit center meetings as scheduled.
  • Keep service truck clean and in good repair including inside of cab and back of truck.
  • Keep service truck stocked with common parts needed to complete services.
  • Complete DOT and mileage reports.
  • Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
