About The Position

This entry-level role requires foundational strategic scheduling experience and context, adhering to established policies and directives, and effectively utilizing core technological tools that support data-driven scheduling. The schedule analyst supports the student-centric scheduling process through collaborative execution and accurate data interpretation and management, serving as a vital support for academic operations. This will drive the collaborative scheduling process across departments and schools for all Dallas College campuses.

Requirements

Ability to occasionally work extended hours beyond the regular 8:00 am to 5:00 pm workdays, especially during heavy registration peak times including nights and weekends to meet priority deadlines.
Associate’s degree in mathematics, statistics, research, or related field.
Two (2) or more years demonstrated use in PowerBI dashboard, Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Power Automate, Power Apps, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), SharePoint are required.
Two (2) or more years demonstrated application of large data management and literacy skills including presenting data for data driven decision making.
One (1) or more years of demonstrated experience in physical space utilization, faculty teaching portfolios, physical and/or digital learning materials processes, and the application of compliance and accreditation guidelines in higher education.
For a part-time position, this position requires the use of a personal laptop capable of supporting data‑intensive scheduling and analytical work. The device must be able to reliably run modern productivity and analytical applications, handle large datasets, and maintain consistent performance during sustained multitasking and data processing activities. The laptop must: Support daily use of scheduling, reporting, and data analysis tools Perform efficiently with moderate to complex datasets Meet institutional security, compatibility, and support standards Final determination of technical suitability will occur during onboarding to ensure the device can adequately support assigned job responsibilities.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of class scheduling guidelines, state reporting requirements, and accreditation standards.
Exhibits an in-depth understanding of course offerings and degree and certificate programs across all schools, encompassing both credit and non-credit options.
Advanced knowledge of data and metrics used to guide the schedule build across Ad Astra, Workday, Colleague and for credit and noncredit programs.
Possesses advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and data models, effectively applying these skills to produce weekly reports on scheduling activities (including pivot tables, formulas, X-lookup, data structures, queries, etc.).
Prepares and delivers reports and presentations, providing data-driven insights for scheduling stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, including the capacity to convey complex concepts clearly.
Displays strong time management, organizational, data management, and problem-solving skills.
Accurately analyzes scheduling data and leverages technology to address complex challenges.
Works effectively both independently and as part of a team, consistently preparing and presenting detailed reports, demonstrating a keen attention to detail, and building productive working relationships.

Nice To Haves

Two (2) or more years demonstrated expertise in strong SAS skill, SQL skill, and experience in creating PowerBI dashboards.
One (1) or more years of experience in Workday/ Ad Astra Scheduling software/ Boomi/ Edify (EAB) and work-related experience in higher education is preferred.
Will be subject to a criminal background check. Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.
Possesses advanced proficiency in basic programming languages such as SQL and other associated query skills.

Responsibilities

Supports the management of 60,000 sections across dozens of campus locations per academic year. This includes sections across traditional offering types, career and technical, and credit and noncredit programs.
Cleans course section data consisting of thousands of lines in preparation for course schedule building efforts.
Interprets and presents the scheduling forecasts and usage trends and implements efficient methodologies.
Works with school leadership directly on course building, classroom assignments, faculty assignments and other schedule related activities.
Supports student-centric scheduling processes and independently identifies, investigates, and resolves issues escalating issues which have greater implications.
Routinely draws upon historic context to independently make strategic decisions, including identifying stakeholders and conducting fact finding prior to escalation to leadership.
Contributes to the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal quality controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, and compliant with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
Identifies relevant metrics and makes recommendations on process improvement.
Navigates changing deadlines and identifies key dependencies.
Contributes to the development processes to evaluate course needs based on student academic plans and identify gaps in course offerings in the schedule; evaluate available time/space for optimizing course offerings.
Provides clear communication supported by relevant data on scheduling practices and policies to stakeholders across the College.
Prepares reports and presentations on program achievements, challenges, and plans for stakeholders, including senior leadership and external partners.
All Full-time employees are required to complete a minimum of 19 hours. People leaders are required to have an additional 16 hours of leadership development.
