About The Position

Scenic Metal Shop Supervisor Reports to: Scenic Shop Manager JOB DESCRIPTIONS/DUTIES Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following: Oversees the day-to-day operation of HCT Metal Shop, ensuring that set pieces are built to design specifications. Assist in creating and managing build timelines in accordance with production schedules, scenic shop teams, assignments, and shop space requirements. Participate as a collaborative member of the build staff specializing in metal working. Ensures that all metal shop tools, hand tools, and theatrical equipment are in good working order. Complete tasks as assigned by the Shop Manager in an efficient and timely manner. Assist in coordination and supervision of the install and operations of all scenic elements. Assist other shop departments as needed; including carpentry, paint, warehouse, transportation. Assist other Production Departments with setup, strike and restoration of show equipment; including set, props, rigging, projections, lighting and sound. Maintaining a safe working environment at all times by adhering to Hale Centre Theatre safety policies and procedures. Maintain a safe & clean work environment in the shop, storage areas, backstage, and on stage for staff and performers alike. Follow all pertinent Hale Centre Theatre policies and agreements. Report all accidents and incidents immediately to Management. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Must be fluent with welding both aluminum and steel using MIG processes (Minimum 3-5 years experience preferred). Must be comfortable laying out and building complex custom designs with reference to 3D models and shop drawings. Must be able to safely coordinate movement and/or reorientation of large metal structures throughout build process. Experience with cutting and grinding . Experience with ironworker and machining is a plus. Must have basic skills in reading shop drawings. Must be able to maintain tight dimensional tolerances. Must be able to work weekdays and occasional weekends. Experience in Theatrical construction is preferred. Experience in SolidWorks or other CAD programs preferred. An ability to work and communicate well in a team atmosphere to dynamically solve problems. Be comfortable working independently. Possess strong desire to hone existing skills and a willingness to learn new ones. Be highly resourceful and possess efficient problem solving and time management skills. Demonstrate strong communication skills. Successful candidates must be able to pass a drug screening prior to beginning work. Compensation commensurate with experience. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and qualification.
