About The Position

Marsh Furniture Company is seeking a Scanner Operator to join their team. This role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating scanning equipment to manage finished goods inventory, ensuring accurate billing to customers. The Scanner Operator will work from a pulling sheet to coordinate with the loading crew, prioritize workload, and ensure each piece of inventory is scanned as it enters the trailer. This position also involves attaching labels, reconciling shortages and overages, and submitting paperwork for processing. The role requires maintaining a clean work area and staying up-to-date with all required job and safety training. Additionally, the Scanner Operator must be versatile to perform other assigned duties within the department based on production needs.

  • Pull cartons weighing up to 80 - 100lbs. up the roller conveyor line to the scanning station as needed.
  • Good manual dexterity is a plus so bar codes can be easily scanned.
  • Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, and reaching movements may occur.
  • Standing or walking on concrete floor.
  • Read, write, and count.
  • Knowledge of how to stage and load trucks.
  • Prior loading experience.
  • Pre-employment drug screen.
  • Hearing conservation (BLO).

Nice To Haves

  • Good manual dexterity is a plus so bar codes can be easily scanned.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate scanning equipment to scan finished goods inventory out of the system.
  • Alert the company to bill the customer for the goods scanned.
  • Work from a "pulling" sheet that lists all products to be loaded per stop.
  • Coordinate the load and loading crew to prioritize the workload order.
  • Ensure each piece is scanned as it comes down the line and enters the trailer.
  • Attach labels to corresponding cartons when required by customer as pieces are scanned and enter trailers.
  • Manually reconcile shortages or overages.
  • Retrieve shortages from the warehouse with the setup man; report shortages to the shipping office if unable to locate.
  • Return overages to stock in the warehouse by the setup person.
  • Turn in paperwork to the office at the end of each truck for processing.
  • Keep area clean and follow good housekeeping practices.
  • Maintain certification in all company job and safety training required.
