About The Position

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Scaler for the Zwolle Engineered Wood Products manufacturing facility located in Zwolle, Louisiana. The Scaler is a full time, hourly role, and reports to the Green End Superintendent. The role is responsible for ensuring that mill operations receive high-quality raw materials using approved methods of log inspection. The wage for this role is $25.63 per hour.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
Strong safety work ethic and ability to intervene with customers regarding safety behaviors if needed
Highly motivated self-starter who performs effectively alone, providing a high degree of customer service
Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Able to handle multiple priorities and takes pride in accuracy and quality of work
Strong computer skills, including Excel and Word
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong positive work ethic

Nice To Haves

Ability to operate heavy equipment -- large scale forklift or front-end loader
Must be able to obtain PIT certification.
Must be able to pass a state licensing exam
Knowledge of SAP & WeighWiz
Accounting background preferred
Knowledge of Raw Materials / Veneer / Plywood operations a plus

Responsibilities

Weighs and grades logs to determine value for purchase or sale
Visually and physically checks loads of logs for specification accuracy
Records and communicates load errors
Conduct physical inventories
Interfaces with contract trucking staff on daily basis
Operates a log loader, knuckle boom, and other heavy equipment to unload logs, and to stack and unstack logs
Verifies accuracy of data
Processes manual tickets
Participates in the development of written processes
Creates and distributes reports
Will routinely use Microsoft Office applications and LIMS and SAP
Will do general clean-up of scale house and surrounding area
